A peaceful and intimate garden wedding in Bonheiden
Valerie & Maarten’s wedding day had an extremely peaceful tone to it. Valerie is a really soft and caring person and Maarten has a super positive vibe with the most contagious of laughs. This was the kind of wedding that had a lot of warmth and connection, the kind that makes you want to stay a little longer.
The theme of the wedding was “a touch of pink”, which we tried to highlight subtly in the photos and videos too.
They wanted to keep it casual, as they both don’t like being in the spotlight. They opted to read their vows in private, just the four of us, in the woods, accompanied by some random baby goats.
Valerie had always dreamed of getting married in her parents garden in Bonheiden and that’s exactly what they did. A ceremonie and party with about 40 guests, their closest friends and family, no big entries, no massive party, but an absolutely gorgeous celebration of love.
It was a lovely surprise to bump into Natalie from Touch of Blush again, it’s always a great pleasure working with her, she’s such a talented MUAH and genuinely kind person. After getting ready on the terrace in the garden, they did a first look between the trees with a select group of people. Valerie’s grandfather got really emotional and it was an honour capturing their genuine emotions and tears.
The ceremony was beautifully guided by Julie from Erewoord. It absolutely blew my mind that Julie wasn’t a close friend of the couple, they way she talked about them and their love story felt as If she’s known them for years.
It was such a chill atmosphere afterwards with people hanging out by the pool and others wandering through the garden. We snatched the couple away for a couple of minutes for some quick golden hour shots before we headed off. Valerie & Maarten choose to not do a first dance, or massive dance party for that matter. But of course we did make them dance a little during their photo session a couple of hours earlier!
Before heading home we did squeeze in some photos and of course tried some of the delicious food and desserts by Tommer Catering. And just like that, this was one of the only weddings we’ve actually been home before 10!
